The ever-popular Ackley Bridge returns for a 5th series with brand new characters all dealing with the central issue of growing up in a multi-cultural British community in the 21st Century.
Yousef Naseer reprises his role in Ackley Bridge, for the 2nd consecutive series. He will be appearing again as Saleem Paracha, a student at Ackley Bridge School and the son of British TV stalwart Sunetra Sarker. The Parachas are the main family in the drama and Yousef’s landing of this role is a testament to his patience and dedication, having worked extremely hard in his drama classes at Articulate in Bradford.
He will soon be one of the focuses in a new plotline which, while still being kept under wraps, promises exciting things.
Yousef wasn’t the original Saleem though -Yousef replaced the first actor at the start of series 4. To undertake a part that was already established by somebody else, is a glowing compliment to the skills and temperament of Yousef and we can already see he has had a fine chance to put his own stamp on it.
Yousef Naseer has also featured in Tyrant (Fox) as Ghani Al-Yazbec, in Casualty (BBC) as Teddy Nasir and in Strike Back (Sky) as Sami Hussain. Perhaps his longest running role was playing Joseph in The Dumping Ground (CBBC) which he filmed for 3 amazing seasons, up in Newcastle. He has been attending Articulate Drama classes for many years and the effect of such training along with his personal commitment are well reflected in him continuing to be offered roles that give him an opportunity to portray major characters. Season 5 of Ackley Bridge will film until mid- February 2022.
